She may have got divorced thrice, but actress Sharon Stone still hopes of finding lasting love.

The 51-year-old parted ways with her third husband, newspaper editor Phil Bronstein, in 2004 but she is refusing to let the break-ups dampen her hopes of finding true love.

“I wouldn’t say no to a partner. But my parents set a high standard to follow – they met at ages 14 and 15 when my Dad was a school crossing guard and helped my mum cross the street,” the Daily Star quoted her as telling the New York Daily News.

“I just want that old-fashioned kinda love, and I do think I’m going to get it,” she added.

The Basic Instinct star has previously been married to George Englund, Jr. and TV producer Michael Greenburg. [Source]

The 51-year-old actress – who played Catherine Stone in the 1992 erotic thriller – was so desperate to win the part she resorted to flashing her flesh in figure-hugging clothes.

The New York Post newspaper reports: “To audition for ‘Basic Instinct’, Sharon Stone wore an Armani pantsuit and a sheer blouse with no bra underneath just to show she had no problem with nudity.”

Sharon – who, according to the publication, made her confession at the Hamptons Film Festival at the Bay Theater in Sag Harbor – learnt about the part after reading the movie script, which her manager had taken from a desk.

Seemingly ageless actress Sharon Stone has a new basic instinct: for gardening. “It lines your body, mind, and spirit up in a way,” she says, “particularly when you’re trying to get yourself in your creative work.”

Sharon, 51, who hasn’t starred in a hit film since 2006’s Bobby, has a lot of time to indulge her green thumb.

“What I am finding is that when you start to really clear old, dead things,” she says, “and really take that time to take away the old stuff and organize a garden and clear out and get in the dirt and weed things out and then see the new stuff that’s coming up and move things around.

“This time that you take that actually takes some labor and is meditative and organized with nature, you can get yourself in a harmonious place.”  [Source]

Sharon Stone has had two miscarriages.

The “Basic Instinct” actress – who has three adopted sons Roan, Laird and Quinn – lost two children in the past, describing the experience as unbearable.

The 51-year-old star said: “I had two pregnancies that I lost in the late fifth month. And this is so awful because I had to go have surgery when my children died. This is a trauma that you just cannot bear.”

Stone said her continuing heartbreak at the loss of her children led her to make her well-publicized comments that suggested the 2008 Sichuan earthquake was “karma” for the way China has treated Tibet.

She explained to Prestige magazine: “I was in some kind of crazyville. The horrific loss of those people’s children caused me tremendous grief. I was relating to this earthquake like some kind of crazy mother.

“In that moment, I was so grief-stricken, and I was really relating to their grief. I had lost children myself. All of that was really heavy upon me. I was really speaking as a heartbroken mother.”  [Source]

Sharon Stone nearly “killed herself” making ‘Casino’. The actress didn’t eat for a week before filming a crucial scene because she was so desperate to impress director Martin Scorsese by looking “skinny and out of it”.

Recalling her preparation for the role – which saw her nominated for the 1995 Best Actress Academy Award – Sharon said: “I nearly actually physically killed myself making ‘Casino’

“We did the death scene on the last day because Scorsese knew I wanted to get just so completely skinny and out of it.

“In the final week I didn’t eat, I didn’t do anything, I just made myself a complete wreck so that I could get skinny, skinny, skinny, skinny and down to nothing. I lost so much weight.”  Read the rest of this entry »
