It’s a bad week for police detectives on DVD shelves.

Not only is Harvey Keitel’s “Bad Lieutenant” being re-released, July 28 also brings the direct-to-DVD debut of “Streets of Blood.” Both hyperviolent films feature cops as crooked as the criminals, and neither has a compelling narrative.

“Streets of Blood,” filmed predominantly in Shreveport in 2008, is set in New Orleans six months after Hurricane Katrina.

Second-unit footage of a devastated New Orleans is used to establish setting throughout the film, but this footage rarely matches the cuts to the film’s primary locations. In one example, a car drives down a French Quarter street; the camera angle reverses, and the car magically is on an obviously different street, presumably in Shreveport.  Read the rest of this entry »

Sharon Stone’s high-powered publicist has blasted reports his client was involved in an air rage controversy in Utah over the weekend, insisting the police who met her at Salt Lake City Airport were hired by her.

Stone was returning to Los Angeles from an Independence Day trip to see her father in Montana and press reports suggest she found herself in trouble during an argument with a flight attendant over her luggage.

The actress allegedly took offense when she learned she had to have a bag checked against her will.

One fellow passenger on the flight from Kalispell, Mont., to Salt Lake City states, “She made a scene during the entire flight.”

Stone was reportedly detained by authorities in Utah before boarding her flight to Los Angeles.

But the actress’ publicist Paul Bloch insists the whole story is a misunderstanding, and it was his client who was the victim.

Block states the attendant took exception to Stone’s baggage requirements and shouted at her.

He says, “She was not detained by police.”  [Source]
