May 28th, 2007: Austria : Combo of fashion & beauty at Life Ball charity

Life Ball, the largest charity event of Europe, which takes place annually in Vienna, was celebrated this year on May 27, where international celebrities like Sharon Stone to pop sensation Scissor Sisters participated. The event saw an attendance of around 4000 people, to witness a combination of Gay Pride parade, Rio Carnival and the Oscars red carpet. The show opened with a fairytale song-and-dance number including a figure-skating performance on the red-ribbon-shaped catwalk. Appearances of German model Nadja Auermann, designer Vivienne Westwood and French opera star Natalie Dessay got a huge round of applause.Costumes like Little Red Riding Hoods and big bad wolves can be seen here. A young man imitating Empress Sissi in white ball gown with crystals in his hair moved gracefully down the red carpet.

May 28th, 2007: SHARON AND KYLIE DO THE LOCOMOTION

Sharon Stone raised $7 million for AIDS research at a star-studded party at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday night, with a little bit of help from Kylie.Stars who turned up for the charity fundraiser included Matt Damon, Naomi Campbell, producer Harvey Weinstein and Ivana Trump. Items auctioned off included a photograph of Sophie Marceau taken by photographer Mario Testino which raised $300,000, a week aboard a luxury yacht, and a tennis lesson with sportswoman Monica Seles. Stone told the 700 attendees, “You have no idea of the good that you’ve done, or the difference that you’ve made.” Australian pop star Kylie Minogue performed Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and her 1988 hit Locomotion for a clearly excited crowd.Screen legend and gay icon, Elizabeth Taylor organised the event, but was unable to attend due to health problems. May 28th, 2007: Sharon Stone’s AIDS benefit at Cannes

CANNES – Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone has managed to collect a record $7 million for AIDS research at a glitzy function which took place late on Wednesday at the Cannes festival. Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Elle MacPherson, Matt Damon, Maggie Cheung, Dita Von Teese, Michelle Yeoh, Catherine Deneuve, Kylie Minogue and Carla Bruni were the leading lights present at this do, which had an overall attendance of 700. Other notable persons were Jean-Paul Gaultier and Roberto Cavalli, Ivana Trump as well as producer Harvey Weinstein. Last year the same function collected $4 million. Sharon Stone acted as auctioneer as amfaR founder Elizabeth Taylor had to cancel because of health issues.
